behind the keyboard

Hello:

I live in Florida, am a fundraiser, haveĀ embarked on a gut renovation of my dreamĀ cottage at the lake, and escape whenever I can for solace at the beach (not often enough).

There’s something about those waves. And the sky. And the sunrise. Did I mention the waves?

In between, I’m finishing up PhD coursework and will complete comps in early 2008 … hopefully the dissertation will also be written and approved by the time we ring in 2009! Might be 2010 …

Had a few missteps with the first renovation GC … and things seem to be going fairly well with the new one.

Thanks for stopping by. Drop a line!

  1. Hey G:
I see you’ve been playing on your blog also. LOVE the music. I just saw the videos, I’m gonna check them out next. I always lose a day when I play on my blog, so many things to go through, isten and watch!

  2. The videos are powerful stuff … thanks for sharing

  3. Hi Dobegil: I’ll definitely take a look. Thanks for sharing. I’m happy you enjoyed the music and videos. The soldiers’ video is particularly moving … it is backdropped by a favorite song and the combination of the pictures gave me goosebumps.

Thanks for stopping by. I really need to do something today besides soothe my soul, lol.

By the way, I can’t seem to resurrect my blogroll … any advice?

Take care and have a great day!

  4. LOL, well, it’s a widget … I’ve looked at my widget page and it could be Links or Meebo or Box.net file sharing. These are the 3 things between my Blog stats & Recent Comments. Sorry, not much help on this one.

  5. One comment about the foam stuff. It is against code in St. Johns County to run this stuff into the ground – because termites can burrow through it without being detected in their quest to find their next meal. We’ve had some details made of it for over 10 years – and it seems to do ok except that in areas which don’t get a lot of sun – it can get moldy and needs an occasional bleach job. So whatever color you use – make it white (smile). Robyn

  6. Hi Robyn: Very good point. It will be on the front porch so will be on the concrete several inches up from the ground. And I’ll keep them white! Thanks for the advice. I enjoy your commentary on NYT Dream Home Diaries. :-) If only Alison and Paul would take your guidance to heart! Take care. g (renovating in orlando)

  7. very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
